About Anything Goes
Anything Goes is the premier treble competition show choir at James River High School, dedicated to the mastery of high-energy performance, traditional choral repertoire, and advanced vocal technique. Each season, the ensemble develops a sophisticated 17–20 minute thematic production composed of five songs, seamlessly integrating vocal excellence, choreography, and custom costume and set design. The group’s dedication to the craft is evidenced by their success at local and out-of-state competitions; this past year, they earned top honors for Best Choreography, Best Vocals, Best Costumes, Best Band, and the Spirit of Kindness award.
Auditions for rising and qualifying 9th through 12th graders take place annually during the week before spring break. Students accepted into the ensemble are required to attend a mandatory week-long summer intensive, typically held in August. While there are fees associated with custom musical arrangements, choreography, and costuming, the Choral Boosters provide robust fundraising opportunities to assist families with these costs. Beyond the stage, members are expected to maintain a high standard of commitment by attending all rehearsals, supporting their teammates, and representing James River with sportsmanship at every event.
